Welcome to SLIS LITA!

We're a group of IT-interested library school students at UW-Madison with a wide range of technical aptitudes and curiosities. We host lectures and workshops, we meet up to work on class projects, and we've occasionally been known engage in some geeky frivolity.


 

 

Fall 2011 Kickoff & Announcements

 

Social at the Rathskellar Fri 9/23, 5:00pm

Join us for a social gathering at the Memorial Union Rathskellar on Fri, September 23 at 5:00 PM.  Get to know other IT-interested library students, enjoy some beverages, and help to plan our activities for the upcoming academic year.     

 

Tech Class Homework Sessions

LITA will be hosting informal weekly homework sessions where students taking IT-related courses can meet up to work on assignments. Let us know when you'd be most interested in attending by filling out the Doodle poll at the link below.

Tech Workshops

  • Although we had originally planned to host a basic Basic HTML workshop on Tuesday, September 22, we are canceling it. Instead, Sheilah Harrington, one of the librarians in the SLIS library, is going to be presenting two sessions on basic HTML coding.  One on Tuesday, September 22 from 9- 10:00, and another on Tuesday, September 29 from 1:15- 2:15.
  • Wednesday, November 4: Open Source Open House: learn about open source library- related software
  • Suggestions for alternate meetings and program times are being taken on the Scheduling page.
  • Wednesday, January 27, 2010, noon-1 pm: Maintain Your Computer presentation. Learn about computer security, backup strategies, and ways to keep your computer running more smoothly.
  • February 26:  One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) and Amazon Kindle
